Many of Toshiba’s Satellite Notebooks feature external controls for the optical disk drive. This means that you can play CDs and DVDs without booting up your Notebook operating system. It’s as if you had a separate DVD/CD player built into the device - and it’s just as easy to operate.

The advantages? Firstly, you can start playing without waiting for the Notebook to boot up. And secondly, you conserve power and extend battery life because the only part of your Notebook that’s operating is the player.
