With more than 70 years of expertise in manufacturing lenses of professional broadcast and still photography, the Canon name represents optical excellence. The HV10 Genuine Canon 10x HD Video Zoom Lens incorporates an aspherical lens, super spectra coating technology and a new gradation ND filter design to ensure the capture of crisp high definition video.
Canon's Super-Range Optical Image Stabiliser combines the benefits of both optical and electronic image stabiliser systems to create the most effective image stabiliser in consumer camcorders today. A gyro sensor detects bigger and faster movements, while a vector sensor on the CMOS sensor detects slower movements at a sample rate of over 900 times a second. A shift type lens element utilises movement information ffrom both sensors to correct the light path. Unlike purely Electronic Image Stabiliser systems, the HV10 uses the entire sensor to capture video, and can stabilise movement while in stills shooting mode.

Canon's expertise in designing and manufacturing CMOS image sensors for its line of EOS Digital SLR cameras is now available in the Canon HV10 HDV camcorder. The CMOS sensor in the HV10 is a 1/2.7 inch 2.96 megapixel sensor with true 1920 x 1080 HD sensing capability for 1080i HDV format video**. Canon's advanced noise reduction technology ensures the purity of each pixel even in dim light, minimising noise and other aberrations. It incorporates an RGB Primary Colour Filter with Bayer placement to deliver a sharp HD image with vibrant and accurate colour reproduction.
The HV10 features DIGIC DV II, Canon's proprietary image processor, designed specifically for HD video and photos. The high speed imaging engine make possible the recording and playback of images boasting outstanding detail and rich colour gradation and allows video and photos to be shot simultaneously. Furthermore, the processor lowers power consumption, providing longer batter life.
Professional Results Made Easy
The increased resolution of High Definition requires higher focus accuracy. To meet this requirement, the HV10 incorporates Canon's revolutionary new "Instant AF" autofocus system which combines 2 metering methods to deliver sharp focus while shooting in a variety of conditions. The system first employs an external sensor tocalculate the distance to the subject through triangulation metering. It then uses contrast detection to fine tune the focus. It is especially effective when shooting at night, in high-brightness conditions or when following a moving subject.
The HV10 camcorder is also equipped with a bright Ultra Video Light, so you can keep shooting in low light conditions. It also offers features for achieving professional results eg Peaking, Level Shot Control, Grid Marker to Smooth Zoom Control for a polished look.

Inside HV10 lives a full featured Canon digital camera, allowing you to capture a stunning 3.1 megapixel photo onto a tiny miniSD card. Just like and advanced Canon camera, the HV10 features selectable 9-point AF, selectable metering modes, White Balance, Auto Exposure Bracketing and continuous shooting up to 4 frames/second and a Built-in Flash with Red-Eye Reduction. It also Print/Share button for one-touch photo prints from any PictBridge compatible printer, no computer needed.
